A SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR is someone who recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create, and manage a venture to make social change. A Business Entrepreneur measures performance in revenue, profit, and return on investment. A Social Entrepreneur measures performance in two equally important ways: First on how well he or she has achieved their social mission and second in revenue, profit, and return on investment. Nonprofits use different terms such as fundr …

… If a food is not nutrient dense and is fed to the child, this dramatically lowers the child's chances of getting enough nutrition that day because the stomach is filled up with non nutritious foods. We don't necessarily agree that the status quo is the way to go. We don't think eggs and butter raise cholesterol and clog arteries, we don't think that raw milk in any form is harmful, we don't think that optimal density can be reached through conventional farming and factory farms. We try our best …

Like bees and want to help them to thrive? I teach two classes each month on different topics. So far we have 8 different bee care topics, all relevant to people who are interested in bees. I started the group because it was difficult for me to find out how to -->respectfully<-- raise bees and to do that without chemicals or treatments. I'm most interested in helping people learn to be good bee stewards whether they have backyard hives or just enjoy and appreciate the busy little pollinators. …
… A: With some exceptions, we have found that smaller events are the ONLY ones conducive to getting to know each other! Many vegetarian/vegan restaurants in Portland are small. Larger groups get MUCH slower service and it is harder to split up the bill. In larger groups at restaurants, we tend to have a higher no-show and no-tip rate. Introverts can get lost in the shuffle. The list goes on. If you prefer very large events, this isn't the Meetup for you. Now go sign up for something! :)

This is a group for both experienced and inexperienced hikers, all of whom have the tacit fundamental desire to get outdoors for a day (or two). We have no group theory or group philosophy, yet. Personally speaking, I seek people willing to share in this group's organization, with a committed spirit of both activism and ethical eco-tourism. This means that we seek and communicate information about our activities that include regulations as well as education. The purpose of this group should be e …
